The Department of English at the University of Nouakchott offers an immersion program in the English language. For four years, students study all of their core subjects in the target language of English. This unique approach ensures that graduates are able to function very well in English and have strong listening and speaking skills.
At the moment, the English Department, along with the rest of the Faculty of Arts, is in the process of changing to a three year LMD system to put our program on par with the new three year programs in Europe, Morocco, and Senegal.
This means that English classes are now offered on the main campus as well as downtown on the old campus of the Ecole Marsa. We really want to congratulate the professors of the first year LMD program for their hard work during this transition time.
